Wes-Point Shores offers a tranquil setting whether you enjoy fishing, boating, or just to see one our beautiful sunsets. Our cottages are located on the banks of Lake Winyah where you may see an eagle soaring overhead looking for its next meal, or Trumpet swans swimming along with their young.  Fishing is an active sport on this lake with an abundance of species.  Northern pike, walleye, large and small mouth bass, as well as various species of panfish are here to tempt the angler.  The lake is great for duck hunters, as we have a large amount of ducks and geese for those who would like to bag their limit for the hunting season.  State land is also accessable for the fall bow and rifle seasons. We are located within five miles of state property that is open to the public.  Fall is a great time to take a road trip to see the various colors of the trees along the countryside.  The vibrant hues of red, orange, and yellow leaves isvery picturesque.

The city of Alpena, located within seven miles of our resort, offers an array of activities for the vacationer. There are several beaches for swimming or that leisurely walk along the beach, as well as parks where you can picnic or enjoy a game of basketball. Vacationers can explore the shipwrecks of Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary during a two hour cruise on a glass bottom boat that departs from the dock behind the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center.  The Heritage Center also offers a sanctuary store, high-definition theater, boat-building center and archaeological conservation lab. Skuba diving as well as snorkeling offers a spectacular view up close of the vessels that sunk in the bay throughout history. Charter boat service is available for those wanting to see the shipwrecks up close.

Alpena is noted for its fine dining, as well as moderately priced establishments with an array of food choices to whet the appetite.
